Privacy Policy

TL;DR: Screen Color Picker runs 100% in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, including the colors you pick. For the architectural deep-dive on how this works, see Privacy by design.

1. Data controller

This site is operated by Shrestha Tripathi (India). For privacy questions, contact shrestha.tripathi@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Nothing personally identifiable.

  • No accounts. There is no sign-up form, no login, no profile.
  • No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Cloudflare Web Analytics, no Mixpanel.
  • No tracking pixels. No Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight, no marketing trackers.
  • No third-party advertising. No AdSense, no Carbon, no banner networks.
  • No fingerprinting. We do not attempt to identify your device or browser.

3. What stays on your device

Some data is stored locally in your browser. It never leaves your device:

  • Color palette history — stored in localStorage under the key screencolorpicker:palette:v1.
  • Theme preference (dark/light) — stored in localStorage under screencolorpicker:theme.
  • Captured screenshot frames — held only in browser memory while the screenshot picker modal is open. Freed when you close it.

You can wipe this data anytime via your browser's "Clear site data" setting, or use the "Clear all" button in the recent palette panel.

4. Server logs

Our CDN host (Cloudflare Pages) logs basic request metadata (IP address, user agent, request URL) for abuse prevention and infrastructure operations. These logs are not accessible to us at the per-request level and are typically retained by Cloudflare for 30 days. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

5. Third-party services

We use these third parties:

  • Cloudflare Pages — hosts the static HTML/CSS/JS. Privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts — serves the Geist font family from fonts.googleapis.com. Privacy policy. We may self-host fonts in a future release to remove this dependency.

That's it. No CDN-loaded JavaScript libraries, no third-party scripts, no embedded widgets.

6. Cookies

Screen Color Picker does not set any cookies. The only persistent state is in localStorage, which is technically distinct from cookies and is not transmitted to any server.

7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we don't collect or store personal data, most data-subject rights are trivially satisfied. To exercise any right or ask questions, email shrestha.tripathi@gmail.com.

  • Right to access: we have no personal data of yours to access.
  • Right to deletion: we have nothing to delete on our end; clear browser site data to remove the local state.
  • Right to portability: your palette is in your browser's localStorage; you can export it via browser dev tools.
  • Right to opt out of sale: we don't sell anything.

8. Children

Screen Color Picker is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
